new "lights"

Question:

Same here.  Sometimes it looks like a kaleidoscope. Other times I seem to get just a blank spot, not black, just a "blank spot" on the edge of my vision, like I can see what is there but my brain cannot figure out what it is looking at.  It’s sort of a surreal, strange thing, of course I usually feel "disconnected" when I am having an aura and it is usually shortly followed by a real killer full-blown migraine. Anyone else experience this blank spot? Anna – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I’ve been gettomg very intensely colored irregularly shaped spots before and during migraine and mixed headache.  Frequency varies. Hi again!  After never having much by way of weird visual stuff, I’m now getting splashes of light that travel around the edge of my vision.  I’ve been having more migraines than usual lately, but the lights seem to happen any time, not just as part of my aura.  Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks for any suggestions, Melissa

Yes!  I get bright yellow squigly’s that are momentary, start at the inside and travel quickly to the outside of my visual field.  I just figure it’s part of the migraine syndrome. Anyone else experience this blank spot? Yes.. I experience those blank spots where I can’t focus.. and all the other spots too.  I have a condition called Idiopathic Intercranial Hypertension and both common and classic migraines.   Apparently the IIH can cause glaucoma so I am especially careful about getting my eyes checked. Good luck with it Elena hello,

if you have such a bad migraine, you should be on a migraine preventing medicine. The start is with a superselective beta-blocker, Bisoprol fumarate 5mg IOD to start with,, increase to 10mg 1od, and if not helpful, add amitriptyline 10-25mg at night. Does nor interfere with the idiopathic intracranial etc. Let me know how you are doing. Olli Sallinen MD, Helsinki

Yep. That’s all I ever see. No colors, no lights. Just "blankness." It feels like half my body is gone. When I look in the mirror, I can’t see all of my face. I can’t feel all of my body. It’s like half my brain is gone. Scary.                                                           Kat http://mars.utm.edu/~katglock Same here.  Sometimes it looks like a kaleidoscope. Response:

Yes, just this morning, in fact.  I was cataloging archives when this "blank area" began to appear in the middle of my work; it was a prelude to a classic brain-buster.  I’ve had other types of aura, but this was a new one to me.  Peace! James
