Various Health Problems

Question:

Hello David, I cannot over emphasise that I have no medical training whatsoever . > Further, I have severe bowel problems, which mean I suffer from > diarrhea if I eat fried food (IE chinese) and if I eat wheat products, > such as bread or pizza, I suffer from very painful bowel movements for > 2-3 days. Beer also causes a lot of discomfort and bowel problems the > following day, but I can drink spirits quite happily (apart from being > prone to depression for a few days following a heavy session).

I react to food since I was 18(I’m now 48) and recently I’ve been eating a lot less than the average person but I probably know what I’m doing. For one thing my weight has remained unchanged so apart from a little concern I have that I may not be getting all the material I need I’m clearly surviving. Anyway we here in the West eat far more than we need to! However I do feel very unwell after food although this situation is improving all the time. When I think of it things were really much worse. I’m sorry I cannot describe exactly what I mean by feeling unwell and because I’m certain that no doctor can describe it either I have never complained to a doctor about it. I think it comes under the general heading of "food intolerance" a phrase I heard recently. What I’m absolutely 100% certain about is that not being able digest food in the normal way is due to the anxiety/tension I feel all day because I suffer from Social Phobia and all that that means and the dreadful environment I live in living with my hostile parents which only makes things worse than they should be for me. As I said things have been much worse. As you know our entire digestive system is finely balanced and easily upset. I wonder can I point out that if someone is provoked at the table to the point that they feel angry they will prefer not to finish what they are eating. That is how finely balanced our digestive systems are and once adrenalin is released when we feel angry our digestive system is shut down. Have you heard about the fight or flight mechanism? The general picture is well understood but the details are probably not understood at all or at least very little.    The tinnitus I suffer is around > 13-14khz in frequency, and I only tend to notice it when I go to bed, > as the rest of the time the TV or radio masks it.

I suffer from probably severe tinnitus in my right ear(I can hear it now clearly) and I know for a fact that it’s due to the way I clench my right jaw all day long. If I press firmly against my right jaw with my hand I can hear the tone and volume of the tinnitus change in my right ear. I have two fillings in my two back teeth on the right side due to grinding my teeth for years. This is also due entirely due to the anxiety/tension I feel because I suffer from Social Phobia and all that that means. > Some years ago I had a barium meal. Although this didn’t show any > problems, I was somewhat concerned that I passed the barium liquid > through my bowel within two hours of ingesting it. I take Rennie Rapeze antacid tabets everyday. I’ve been taking antacid preparations since I was 18. I’ve tried them all! Then I had a gastroscopy actually hoping that I had this newly discovered bacterium, Helico Bacter, that causes ulcers but my stomach was fine. Again the continuously higher than normal levels of HCl in my stomach is due entirely to anxiety/tension that I have because I suffer from Social Phobia. > The doctor has prescribed me Valium (Diazepam) tablets, although he > did want me to try a course of Prozac (yet again, man do they get > commission on this stuff or something?) . I use Valium on the weekends as a 100% effective sleeping tablet because I feel the greatest amounts of anxiety/tension on the weekends due to the painful loneliness I feel at the weekends. The loneliness I feel at the weekends has always been worse at that time for me since I was 18. The anxiety/tension starts to build around 3pm on Friday afternoon and just gets worse as the weekend progresses. I then continue to feel especially unwell till around Tuesday morning. You wrote:

……I’ve aged massively in the last year and a half due to feeling so stressed / anxious all the time. So finally for what it’s worth the anxiety you feel may be at the root of all your problems. If you can discover why you feel so anxious you may be taking the first step to getting relief but then again maybe not. All of us in this group know what the problem is viz. we are suffering from Social Phobia but apart from a lucky minority the rest of us continue to suffer. However for me getting the correct diagnosis was a real breakthrough and changed everything for me. I want to repeat I do not have any medical training and neither do I have any training in psychology. I simply identify with some of your symptoms and I just happen to know why I have these symptoms. Sorry I cannot be of anymore help to you. You are having a hard time of it. Peter Nolan.

Dave, Your post makes you sound like a human medicine cabinet and a complete automaton. Your story is intriguing yet unbelievable unless you have jumped from physician to physician for every problem you’ve had without relaying to the attending doc any prior history. IMO- I think that your post is complete BS unless you can prove otherwise! If it is truthful then you’ve got one helluva lawsuit yet I still think you’re bullshitting. My first guess/assumption:  Anonymous David "Jones" is a MS Psychology student working on some absurd thesis to impress his/her professors and is using the newsgroups as his/her study group! Entirely too opaque! Let me guess: "The effect of cannabis on psycho-social disorders and fibromyalgia"? It appears to be the bait. Give it up sport! Unemployed for 8 years for lactose intolerance and psychosomatic disorders related to severe Anxiety? Taken dozens of meds for a gazillion reasons? If you really wanted research then you should have been more subtle but this shit is hilarious! David Jones <a…@invalid.com> wrote in message
