Joe, How long ago was your vitrectomy? Did the doc say anything about a cataract? About a year after my vitrectomy, my vision was terrible. It was a cataract that had "ripen" quite quickly after the surgery. Docs normally don’t want to remove these until you cannot function in normal daily activities and mine didn’t even mention it until I complained. Just a thought. Have you had any Macular Edema or just the proliferative retinopathy? Marilyn
Response:
Hello Read your post and just want to let you know that I know how it is. I have had glaucoma for years and getting worse and now diagnosed with retinopathy. When I first came home from the doctor’s office I was very depressed….I don’t need any added problems….but I have a wonderful husband who encourages me and helps me. He also suffers with many illnesses, so we are some pair. I hope and pray for the best for you and seeing another eye specialist may be the answer for you. Also, give the surgery more time to heal and your eyes to strengthen and adjust. Stay happy and healthy.

My vitrectomy was 6 weeks ago. I do have cataracts forming in both eyes. Yes I had proliferative retinopathy plus a vitreous hemmorhage. My vision is better than it was but still far from good. Not being able to read the phone book has been a real pain and my wife has been nagging me. Suggested today I see another doctor. Joe Joe Reardon

Joe, I certainly understand what you are going through <hugs. It is very frustrating, especially those little phone books that most places seem to supply <sigh. Resteraunt menus in dimly lite places are the pits as well. I have found that a couple items on my keychain make things a bit more bearable. One is a little flashlight, the other is a little magnifying glass. I had the prescription in my reading part of my bifocals increased as well, it helps a bit. Marilyn

I knew this guy who had a vitectormy and he couldn’t go bowling for a few days but his eyes were fine. Maybe you were just so used to looking at yourself with your old eyes that you’re just having a time readjusting to the fact that that is as good as it gets. Reality can be a real kick in the head sometimes
Have a good day all.
You too Joe
