Right eyes troublesome
Question:
Hi all; Daniel A. Jewelewicz, MD, a Fellow at the The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary asks: I wonder if handedness might affect which eye would be rubbed more. In PG that might accelerate the process. What about keratoconus? Are cones worse on the "handedness" side? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Jim Ruxton <cinet…@passport.ca> wrote: >I also have Pigmentary Glaucoma (PG) and have had the most trouble with my right >eye. Hey, *I* was in that thread. My eye problem is *all* on my *left* side. Hey, no way do we let the Halterb keep score anymore. Ray (I’m takin’ my eyeball and goin’ home.)

The Pigmentary Glaucoma thread got into a secondary topic–maybe we should start a new thread on it. That topic was the seemingly disproportionate number of patients who report trouble with their right eyes. Out of 5 patients in the thread (if I remember correctly) 4 had more problems with right eyes. Why this should be so is puzzling. We considered sleeping on the right side of the face and brain hemisphere dominance (implying one side of the body developing differently than the other, and perhaps "handedness" and "eye-edness"). If others want to join this exercise, please do.

I also have Pigmentary Glaucoma (PG) and have had the most trouble with my right eye. It has always been the most stubborn in terms of IOP and has damaged fields. Although my pressure in the left has been high when not controlled (presently 17 with Xalatan) it has no field damage. I have had laser surgery on the right eye. Dr Ritch I’m wondering if you have seen this trend in the hundreds or thousands of PG. eyes you’ve seen? I am also right handed and probably right hemisphere dominant. Probably another signifigant factor from what I have read is that PG usually afflicts people with myopia. I am only slightly myopic in my right eye and not att all in the left. Interesting Thread!
