Second opinion for Diagnosis of Narrow Angle?
Question:
I would agree with Dr. Ritch. It sounds like your doctor was not completely certain of the diagnosis. I hope I can get some guidance on this newsgroup. Recently, I had a couple of episodes of right eye pain and pressure with vision disturbances, including the halos around lights. The last episode was a little more painful, so I went to my ophthalmologist and explained the symptoms. After a complete exam, he pronounced my eye completely normal. He did say that he thought it could be either ophthalmic migraines or narrow angle glaucoma. He wanted me to call him if I had another episode to see if he could exam the eye during or right after the problem. Needless to say, several hours later, after the dilating drops I had another attack. Worse than the one the night before and lasted longer. Today, he says he is reasonable certain because this happened after the drops that I have the narrow angle glaucoma and I should have laser surgery. My next appt is on 2/22 and he says it can wait unless I have further episodes or vision problems. I don’t want to panic, but he didn’t tell me anything to do or not to do, I’m not sure he should have used the dilating drops if he thought I had this problem, and I don’t know if this is something that should be treated right away. What do you all suggest at this point? BTW, I am 43 with no other health problems. Thanks in advance.

Ray: Thanks for the reply. I went to see a glaucoma specialist, who, indeed, diagnosed closed angle glaucoma in both eyes. I must have a laser iridotomy quite soon. He has started me on drops to control the pressure in the interim. Luckily, I only have minimal changes in my eyes/vision. He says with my angles and history I can’t wait. From everything I have been reading about narrow angle glaucoma, I tend to agree with him. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Ray Bonar wrote in message … >Hi Jamie: >"Jaime Raskulinecz" <jras…@compuserve.com> wrote: >>Thanks for the reply.
