hemorrhage
Question:
Hi all: Trying to get a handle on this hemorrhage issue, I passed it by Dr. Robert Ritch. He said, "Disc hemorrhages are consistent with a normal-tension glaucoma component." Guess I’m lucky because that’s new to me. What’s the hemorrhage from, did he say? That’s not part of glaucoma!! Did you ask what the "new treatments" were??? Pressures of 12 and 15 sound very good for POAG, but I had damage with pressures at 17 and ended up having trabeculectomies because there were no more drops for me to try (except for a couple of really harsh "last resort" meds). There are a lot of other meds available along with laser trabeculoplasty and the cutting trabeculectomy. I’ve had OAG for a couple of years and started with IOP in the mid-thirties. When I went in for my visual field last month the pressures were 14 and 17 but the visual field in the left eye was slightly worse. This month the pressures were 12 and 15 but there was a new hemorrhage in my right eye. Isn’t this atypical? The Dr. mentioned we may have to try "new treatments." Does anywone have experience with what that might be? I’m currently on Alphagan and Timoptic XE. Thanks. Mike

Actually a hemorrage is a part of glaucoma and seen more often with normal tension glaucoma. There are plenty of other medical treatments. As far as your pressure goes, please do not get to focused on the numbers. They are not part and parcel of what this disease is. They are unfortunately the only way we know how to treat it. You could be having pressure spikes at other times of the day. "C’est Moi" <she…@excite.com> wrote in message
