Good RD visit
Question:
Saw my RD today and she was so pleased that I am nearly off
Marg, good for you. I’m jealous. I want to kick the pred habit, too. I’m on 5mg, and when I see my doc in 3 weeks, I’m not asking. I’m telling him that I am going to start weaning off the stuff. His help would be greatly appreciated. I just need to know whether the stuff is helping me or not. Weaning is the only way for me to know that. — Di dabell at freeatlast dot com http://www.loveyourmother.homestead.com

Go Diane and Marj! I stay off predisone for the most part, and couple times I have just flat out refused to take it. Goodness glaucoma and they didn’t tell you to get off it. My RD respects my choices, and if I say I want to get off prednisone he helps me. Take control it’s your body! Diane you are absolutely correct; you can’t tell how you are really doing unless you are off prednisone. Go girls! — MZ

Saw my RD today and she was so pleased that I am nearly off prednisone–today dropped to 1 mg. The last time I tried to wean myself, I failed yet again and was told not to bother trying again. The reason for this attempt is my recent diagnosis of glaucoma. When the eye doctor didn’t even look at my list of medications, I decided I had better do some research and discovered prednisone was not good for glaucoma patients. Since I had been placed on methadone for chronic pain the week before, decided it was worth a shot again. She was really surprised about the eye doctor as she regularly gets calls from eye doctors wanting her help in getting her patients off prednisone because of glaucoma. We both felt that the eye doctor had been very unprofessional in his lack of discussion of diagnosis, delivery of news, and medication issue. No hot spots at any of my joints, so it looks like I will be successful. Will continue with Celebrex as when I last tried to stop that, my knee swelled even with the prednisone. — Marj To reply please remove nospam

Huge congrats on the pred drop. I am down to 12 myself . Feeling pretty good too. Hope you can finally kick it totally. Now, as to the glaucoma, be sure to use your medicine.
