Eye Problems?

Question:

I read a recent post about eye problems.  What kinds of problems are you experiencing.  I have CD and have noticed that I need stronger glasses but have been putting it off in the hopes that it is caused by the pred.  Hope to be off pred soon and my thinking is that everything will return to normal.  Am I being overly optimistic, or should I go to the expense of new rx?

Response:

I’ve had a condition known as iritis for the past ten years. Like CD, it flares up every few years. I was recently diagnosed as having CD and have heard that iritis is sometimes associated with it. Iritis is an inflamation of the iris and caused my eyes to be very sensitive to light. It was very painful but treated with steroids, drops to the eye. Yes, I’d go to a opthomologist just to be sure. With everything else your experiencing, you don’t want to risk your sight. Jim — James C. Response:

Hi Daniel, I have eye problems also, my doc said it was either from the CD or the prednisone, so Im just going to wait untill Im off pred to see an eye doctor. (I dont have glasses, but probably need them) some people have told me their vision improved when the disease and pred were gone, some said the problem is permanent. Be well and healthy, Ken

Response:

I thought that my eyes were getting worse so I went to see an opthamologist. It was a good thing because I had developed glaucoma from the Prednisone. The glaucoma is under control and that is good because it can sneak up on you and leave you sightless without much warning. Get that eye check ASAP. Paul
