Laser Iridotomy
Question:
Just a short follow up, I’m glad you found my post of some interest but in terms of narrow angle glaucoma (acute glaucoma), this form of glaucoma is much less related to age than open angle glaucoma. In fact it is most commonly found in middle aged people (slightly more women than men). There is also probably less of an heredity factor although there is still a link. Not all glaucomas are the same so it is important for anyone with the condition to know which they have so that they can decide on which information and advice is appropriate for them. Most of the questions and answers on this list refer to open angle glaucoma, but there is no reason why we can’t find good answers to any questions about other forms. — David Wright MSAE Chief Executive, International Glaucoma Association IGA Web Site – http://www.iga.org.uk/home.htm While we are pleased to offer the above information, it is not possible for the International Glaucoma Association to advise on an individual patient’s eye condition or treatment as this has to be the role of their own doctor or eye specialist who knows the full details of their particular case. Any comments above should therefore viewed as general observations. ———- In article <PVPd4.1126$iy5.41…@typ12.deja.bcandid.com>, "Jaime – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Raskulinecz" <jras…@compuserve.com> wrote: > Thanks for the reply. Laser iridotomy is the treatment of choice for narrow angle glaucoma, it is very effective and is usually carried out both in the affected eye and its fellow in order to prevent any future problems. The procedure is quick and usually done in an outpatient department. It is unlikely that there will be any significant pain, just a little soreness for a couple of days afterwards. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
